Small but Terrible!

by Jose Antonio A. Conde

PASIG CITY–Man, he’s small but terrible! Mico Halili, now one of the most aspiring, great, and smart anchor of Philippine sports, either TV or radio.

He is from Ateneo. His experiences include AHS basketball team manager; UAAP, PBL, and PBA anchorman, Haliknu Radio host, One U host, and a teacher of Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion. He is the lovely husband of Pia Archanghel, a newscaster who was then Ateneo’s corutside reporter and a sportscaster just like Mico. His notable partners in the panel include Prof. Randy Sacdalan, Jason Webb, Danny Francisco, Quinito Henson, and others. Ironically, he is small. I observed in some of his pictures that he is physically small in height. No offense.

His greatness in sportscasting was shown when he was with the PBA. He is responsible for the monickers such as “The Man with a Million Moves’ (James Yap), “Kiko Machine” (Francis Adriano), “Red Bullilits” (Red Bull Barako’s backcourt generals with the likes of Topex Robinson and Magnun Membere), “The Fast, The Furious, and The Fearless” (Mark Caguioa, Jay-Jay Helterbrand, and Ronald Tubid), “The Richest Guy in all of Basketball” (Egay Billones), “The Alaminos Assassin” (Lordy Tugade), and “The Championship Capital of the Phlippines” (Araneta Coliseum).

He may be the next Ed Picson, PBA anchorman great. He has everything now in a young sportscaster. Maybe if I were asked what would I call him, I would call him “The Man with a Billion of Monickers”.Hehe.Just joking! Great one!
