Roaring Ekwe gives Bomebers a horrible time as SBC wins NCAA title

by Jose Antonio A. Conde

Three-Peat! The San Beda Red Lions won their 14th NCAA title and 3rd consecutive NCAA Men’s Basketball Title in the Araneta Coliseum vs. the JRU Heavy Bombers, 85-69. San Beda wins series, 2-1.

That ballgame was an Ekwelizer game, he regained his power. Together with Ogie Menor and Upcomging TnT player Pong Escobal, they regrouped their selves as they won the ball game forgetting the bad Second game. This is Frankie Lim’s 2nd title as a coach although he also won twice as a player, ironically, Three decades ago. He was given a victory ride by his players and he is very happy. Finals MVP is Sam Ekwe wheriein it was already his last year. Expect a new Nigerian import will play for San Beda. Congrats!

As for JRU, they are just beginning to be contenders in the Final 4 as they made a good series. Coach Ariel Vangurardia had a birthday celebration in the JRU Campus in Mandaluyong City from the Big Dome to ease the loss and pain.

Just an another footnote: PBL referees were asked to officiate for the last time.

What a season!
