What a season to tell for the Tropang Texters! Another winning season, to say. Thanks to Mark Cardona and comapny for this wonderful one.

They started the season having the most powerful rookie crop they had in Rob Reyes, Pong Escobal, and Jared Dillinger. And a win over Coca-Cola was a signal for them to be powerful as it is. But losses to Sta. Lucia, San Miguel, Red Bull, and Purefoods made them looked like going back to it medicore ways. But in the second round, they have bounced back defeating tougher teams, making them having another winning record again since 2007 in 11-7.

As the #2 seeded team, they entered the semifinals against the aging San Miguel, they knew that they can win the series by winning the first game, 100-125, thanks to the contribution of Yancy de Ocampo and Ren-ren Ritualo. And as they show everthing they can, despite Cardona being booed by the crowd, they won the series in 6 games, 116-115 and went to the finals against #1 Alaska Aces.

Finals time! TnT had a difficult start to say vs. Alaska, when the Aces won the first 2 games, but they made comebacks in the next 2 games thanks to the performance of Mark Cardona and Jimmy Alapag. But Willie Miller made a thrilling shot which stole the advantage during the fifth game. But TnT won the next sixth game by showing everything and heart they can, which made them tied the series. What’s bad news is that Coach Tim Cone got mad at TnT superstar player Cardona due to his boastful stunts he did to the Alaska team (picture above is example), he even told the media that the team will knock Cardona off and made him learn his lesson, but Cardona later told the media that he can’t follow Coach Tim and just play hard as he can, and he proved it during the seventh game and they won the championship. (See “Laban Tropa!” for the full championship article)

Next conference, the 6’6 and below import-laced Fiesta Conference, must be a challenge to them, as they had another rollercoaster conference, by having three imports in Tiras Wade, Gary Forbes, and Rashad Bell. And they had another moderate record in 7-7, making them returning to the Wildcards but came short by losing to Purefoods TJ Giants, who are having a classic game, and also the Texters. Even though their season may be good, they might have a better one next season, despite winning a crown, cheers to them!
